Driveway surfaces we install in Bampton
Four surfaces, each with its own page. We will tell you at the survey which suits your property, your budget and how you actually use the drive.

Block Paving
The most popular choice. Repairable block by block, permeable options available.

Tarmac
Cost effective over large areas and long drives, with block or kerb edging.

Gravel
The most economical way to cover a large area, stabilised with grids where needed.
Driveway cleaning and sealing in Bampton
A drive that looks past saving usually is not. Most of what you are looking at is moss, algae and ingrained dirt sitting on the surface.
We clean driveways with professional rotary equipment rather than a lance, which lifts the dirt without stripping the face off the paving or blasting the jointing out. Afterwards we re-sand or re-grout the joints, treat for weed and algae regrowth, and seal the surface where the material suits it.
Suitable for block paving, natural stone, concrete and tarmac. Call 01993 608661 for a price.
Driveway repairs and resurfacing in Bampton
You do not always need a new drive. Common jobs we take on:
- Sunken, rutted or spreading block paving, lifted and re-laid
- Potholes, cracking and worn tarmac patched or overlaid
- Resin that has lifted, cracked or lost its colour
- Gravel that has thinned, rutted or migrated onto the road
- Failed or missing edge restraints re-set in concrete
- Drives that hold water, where falls or drainage need correcting
We will tell you honestly whether a repair is worth doing or whether the base underneath has gone and it needs relaying.

How we build a driveway
Most of the cost of a driveway is buried where you will never see it. This is the specification we work to in Bampton, and it is worth checking any quote you receive against it.
- Excavation to a depth that suits the surface, the ground and the traffic, with all spoil removed from site.
- Edge restraints set and haunched in concrete before the surface goes down. The step cheap installers skip, and the reason drives spread at the edges.
- Geotextile membrane over the formation, so the sub-base does not sink into the subsoil.
- Compacted sub-base of MOT Type 1, laid and compacted in layers rather than one deep lift. This is the layer carrying the cars.
- Falls and drainage set away from the property, with a permeable build, soakaway or channel drainage as the site requires.
- Surface laid to the specification for the material, whether that is bedding sand and blocks, resin, tarmac or gravel.
- Finish. Site cleared, drive swept, all waste taken away.
Most domestic driveways take three to six working days, depending on size, access and groundwork.
How much does a Driveway cost in Bampton
We cannot give a real figure without seeing the site, and anyone quoting firmly down the phone is guessing. What moves the number:
- Size and shape of the drive, and how many cuts and curves it has
- The surface you choose, from gravel at the lower end to resin and premium block at the top
- What is there now, and whether it has to be broken out and disposed of
- Ground conditions, since soft or made up ground needs deeper excavation
- Access for machinery, versus everything by barrow through a side gate
- Drainage, soakaways and dealing with standing water
- Extras such as dropped kerbs, steps, walls, pillars and lighting

FAQs – Driveways in Bampton OX18
Block paving suits most domestic drives, resin gives the smoothest modern finish, tarmac is the most economical over long drives and gravel over large areas. We will recommend one at survey based on your property and how you use the drive.
Yes. Crossovers are licensed by the local highways authority and must be installed by an approved contractor. We handle it alongside the driveway.
Often, yes. Sunken block can be lifted and relaid, tarmac patched or overlaid, and tired paving cleaned, re-sanded and sealed.
It depends on the size and shape of the drive, the surface you choose, what is there now, the ground conditions and access. We survey first and give a free, itemised, fixed quote rather than a rate per square metre.
Usually not, provided the surface is permeable or the water drains within your own property rather than onto the road. We check this at survey.
Three to six working days for most domestic drives, depending on size, access and groundwork. We give a timescale with the quote.
